Two good rides in the glorious clear and cold weather this weekend. I'm am trying to find some more hills in the South East to measure for the climb profiles so if anyone can suggest any worthy of recording I will try to get out there and measure them on the bike. If anyone has any details of climbs anywhere else please send them through and I will add them to the list.
There's a bizarre story at procycling about Jan Ullrich's contract stipulating that he must begin the new season at an acceptable weight or incur financial penalties! Apparently untrue but maybe they should have started him on that contract seven years ago or something similar about a minimum pre-Tour mileage perhaps.Comments:

In my opinion, Jan Ullrich has gotten too much negative critique. Completely undeserved. He is maybe the greatest talent the sport has seen in the last decade. His results are very good, but everyone seems to be concerned about his weight. There is still much to come from Jan Ullrich and maybe 2006 will be the year he makes all his critics shut up.

Hi Mags. I agree, he does come in for more than his fair share of criticism given his results, some of it quite malicious. But I've no doubt some of it comes from the frustration of genuine fans seeing someone so good not gets the results that perhaps his talent deserves.

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it. I also believe that Jan Ullrich has more "in him" then maybe he has shown. Maybe if he raced and trained more with his brain and less with his heart, his results would even be better. But then again, maybe not? It is so hard to say, since what works well for one ahtlete would not work at all for another. I think that maybe 2006 will be "his year". As a personal note, my preperation is going well. On a long term view - 2006 and 2007 will show whether or not 2008 in Beijing is too soon.
