Take the high road
Can't quite make it's mind up in Italy if Spring has started or not, anyway a few days of warm weather last week made the descents from the big climbs just about bearable so I took the opportunity on Saturday to go up Mt. Bondone from Trento (the same route the Giro will take next month). As you can just about see from the crummy mobile phone-cam photo there's still a bit of snow around but the roads are clear. Today it's snowing again above 1000m :-(
I'm hoping to try and make up for my lack of contribution to the blog, anyway here's a quick Winter recap: had the bolts taken out of the head of my femur in December and was back on the bike after a few weeks - bone is probably better then titanium in this case :-) It's been damn cold here but mostly dry with clear roads so I still managed to get out regularly on the bike, anything to avoid torture by turbo-trainer.
Upcoming objectives:
- 1 May, Dieci Colli di Bologna - granfondo around the hills of Bologna, lots of up and down, 163km, 2475m height gained.
- 11 June, Granfondo Alto Adige - spectacular scenery and 2 *big* Dolomite passes, Passo Pennes is a killer! 169km, 3600m height gained.
- 18 June, Granfondo Campagnolo - again spectacular Dolomite scenery and big international participation, hopefully in the company of Iain for his first Granfondo.
