Sweet and Sour
Sweet! The most enjoyable bike race [IMOH] in the world starts tomorrow. The course looks good, there are a good number of podium contenders and Jan Ullrich's riding. Although I have no expectations on Ullrich's performance it will be good to see him in the race. My team to watch this year will be Liquigas. I would love to see Di Luca do well again [an overall win maybe?] and Cioni [stage win?] and Wegelius put in some good rides.
Sour!Alas, I will not be there to watch this year. I will just have to put up with the Eurosport coverage and the tales of roadside mayhem from Phill [you lucky lucky...].
Comments:
Di Luca hung on today - clearly not at his best thanks to Noe for great team work helping his captain . After the great liquigas show in the TTT it was a blow for the killers fans not to see him at his best but as he said it was "almost like a victory" - lets hope Di Luca can recover in time for Sundays great stage.
Cunego also failed to show - Basso and Savoldelli look in great shape-
kom op bianchi boys!

Gotta love that Italian commentary Tom.
Basso was so much better on Sundays stage. Everyone else was grimacing and rocking and Basso looked like he was on a spin down to the local shops. He was almost smiling for most of the final climb!

I know what you mean,Iain! By the way, guess what, I am cewing for a RAAM team! Rob Lucas to be precise! RAAM is Race Across America, by the way, clsest we have to TdF or the Giro here! How's that for cool!

Ullrich only won the TT because there was no wind when he set off, by the time the leaders got going there was a massive headwind on the outward leg.
Still quite impressive after a winter of wining and dining but Basso was the strongest.
