AM spin

Early morning on Shere RoadGreat early morning ride today, although it felt distinctly autumnal. Surely it can't be that time of year already.

In the interests of sports science and the study of performance enhancement I should report that, alas, the eggs have done nothing to increase my speed. Although it should be noted that there was no discernable performance loss like that experienced by Ivan Basso last time he had an omelette! ;-)

That is a great photo,Iain! You sure have some pretty countryside there!

Thanks Tom, it was taken on my mobile phone so I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
I was over at yours yesterday reading up on the ride, looks great and all in the presence of The Man.
Did you acquire any of his superpowers from the High 5?

I wish, I did ride my fastest ride ever though!

If you can't get power from mutant eggs, where can you get it from, eh?
By the way, you said at my space that you run during the winter. How does that work for you? I realize it'd be pretty far-fetched to come back as fast in the spring as you finished the fall, but did running help you preserve that aerobic base at all?

Caloi, sorry for the delay. Running for me is more of an effort to keep the pounds off and at least keep things ticking over in the winter. I can't say it's my favorite excercise by a long shot, but it is effective. Re aerobic base, the weekend winter rides probably have more effect than the running but I'll admit I've never been too scientific about it.

With reference to your posting at The Uphill Battle, running has never made me slower!

I have been tricked into running a 10k in October so I'll be running more than usual this year. I'll let you know how I get on.

Nice. I've seen a bunch of 5k's in my area in the near future. I've debated trying my legs out for that sort of thing, but I really haven't been a runner for a few years now.
Let me know how it goes.
