Operation Puerto case dismissed

Eurosport is reporting that the Operation Puerto case will be officially closed on Monday due to lack of evidence [ Operation Puerto case dropped ].

Oh well, at least nobody wasted their time, no harm done!

Comments:

Not quite. There was "insufficient evidence to prosecute for the offence of endangering public health." That doesn't mean there wasn't a stack of doping going on it's just that at the time such a thing was not illegal in Spain. It doesn't mean the riders are innocent of doping and breaking the rules of the sport.

I completely agree Mark, it seems that there's plenty of evidence of foul play. It's just the case is such a sorry mess. They're talking about riders still not being in the clear but I would be very surprised to see any successful individual prosecutions.
