[ posted by Iain Thursday, January 22, 2004 ] Another one for the animal nicknames list, Savoldelli ('the falcon'), now one of Ullrich's uber domestiques for his Tour push. The picture on the left was taken at the 2000 Giro d'Italia, Savoldelli was struggling to catch the lead group on the Gavia which included Di Luca, Garzelli and Rubiera (riding for Kelme at the time). On a darker note Gaumont (Cofidis) has been reported to have admitted doping [ Velonews ][ Le Soir (thanks JB) ].

Cleaning the pipes

[ posted by Iain Sunday, January 18, 2004 ] A solo sixty miler today, to grab a quick cup of tea with a mate. Clear skies and clean air for a change. The cold air was a welcome purge for the lungs and what was left of my recent cold was soon left behind on the road. Looking forward to the Jacobs Creek "Tour Down Under", but unfortunately unlikely to see anything on TV. It'll be interesting to see how Mark Scanlon does.
