Another fine day ...

Out to Hook in Hampshire today on a one-wayer to catch up with some friends. Its about 2hrs from Guildford to Hook via Compton, Puttenham, Seale and Long Sutton. The weather was excellent and this time I was dressed appropriately. I am trying to concentrate on getting out regularly at the moment rather than worry about hours or distance, but one thing that has really helped is not having a computer on my 'winter' bike. It's OK having your average/current speed flashing at you mid-season when your cruising along but early season times and speed do nothing to boost your confidence and unless you meticulously monitor your everyday performance its kinda good just to let up and enjoy being out, especially on days like today. Good news also, the new work-place has showers on-site so no excuses not to get on the bike to work.

I am trying to make the most of the weather and a bit of time off between jobs at the moment. I start a new job locally on Monday which means I can ride to work! No more commuting to London for a long while I hope. Today was a beut, clear blue skies all day for the first time in a long while and the wind has dropped since yesterday. Did a short loop from Guildford up via Combe Bottom and then round through Horsley, Ockham, Cobham and back via Send. I totally overdressed for it though I was cooking by about half way, I have yet to expose the brilliant whiteness of my legs to the world yet this year, maybe tomorrow!
Things are looking up in the UK

After some really dull grey weeks over the past few months we've finally got some decent weather here and according to
Meteorologist the weather's going to keep improving over the next few days. I've started up a photo category for
UK rides, these are mostly going to be from the South East at the moment, but hopefully I'll be adding a few over the next few days. Found some more on rides in Surrey at
Chris Gerhard's Weblog.
